Safety & Sustainability at Lewisham Gateway

Earlier this month Spraylat was lucky enough to be invited to the Balfour Beatty Safety Shutdown Day at Lewisham Gateway. This day provided very interesting and important information about health and safety and sustainability within construction.

Balfour Beatty is committed to health and safety in every aspect of their work, and strives to protect their workforce with the ultimate target of Zero Harm.

Balfour Beatty prides itself on being a responsible, sustainable business. Their new Sustainability Strategy embodies their ambition to go further to reduce the environmental footprint and to have a positive, sustainable impact wherever they work.

So why be sustainable? It improves the quality of our lives, protects our ecosystem and preserves natural resources for future generations.

Balfour Beatty has already generated a 54.7% reduction in carbon since 2010, £0.7m in energy savings and 98.2% waste avoided from landfill.

Sustainability is not just for large businesses. The reality is that if you aren't investing in sustainability, you're going to be left behind. Asking the question "what can we do to improve our natural environment during construction?"
