Protective Coating for Nuclear Decommissioning

Nuclear equipment protection

Nuclear component transportation protection

The Spraylat coatings have been used within the nuclear industry for over 25 years to prevent contamination or as a tie-down coating and have been used amongst others by BNFL, Nexia, Westinghouse, AWE Aldermaston and Rolls Royce

As a peelable coating to prevent contamination taking place on the surfaces of robotic equipment , glove boxes , modular containment systems or other structures which would otherwise be contaminated by low radiation dust particles.
The Spraylat peelable base coat is first applied to the clean surface and this becomes contaminated by the ensuing process subsequent layers of coating are applied to encapsulate and tie down the contamination. The whole film can then be stripped away for disposal as a dry film waste.

As a containment or “tie-down”. A Spraylat coating is used to tie down surface contamination on objects being decommissioned , dismantled or removed for disposal.

The coatings are non flammable and low hazard and meet the requirements of MIL SPEC 6799 and comply to the British Standard surface spread of flames test class 1.
