Spraylat was founded in 1936 in the USA as the original manufacturer of liquid applied strippable coatings and developed its customer base within the military and aviation industries with customers such as Boeing and McDonnell Douglas using the peelable coatings for protection to canopies and during fabrication and assembly. It developed the first cocooning system which was used to ship aircraft around the world on carriers and is still used today for shipping and long term “mothballing”. Furthermore it was one of the first company to apply paint to plastics and is specified by GE Plastics and Eastman Chemical . In 1992 Spraylat International Limited was formed as a separate autonomous company and continued to expand its range of coatings for a variety of surfaces such as plastics ,paints, glass and metals and now supplies many blue chip companies such as The Olympic Games, Formula One, Soccer and Rugby World Cup, Bae Marine Systems, Rolls Royce, British Nuclear Fuels and signmakers and major construction projects worldwide. Jon Caswell, one of the founders, led and developed the company until his untimely death in November 2009.
